Locals Spotlight: Stacey Living in Chappaqua NY

Stacey & her beautiful Family

I’m a teacher, wife & mom of two elementary aged boys.  I also work as a travel agent, specializing in Disney and Universal destinations.   If you need the insiders’ guide to Disney check out my FB page here https://www.facebook.com/s.iskovitz.keytotheworldtravel/

Where did you move from?

I’m pretty much a Westchester lifer.  I grew up in Central Westchester (White Plains NY) and lived in Riverdale NY before moving to Northern Westchester.

What were a couple of the deciding factors for moving to the suburbs?

Most important were space and good schools.  As a teacher in Westchester with a young family, I wanted to live close to where I work.  We also wanted a sense of community.  It is important to us to feel like we are a part of something.

Are you a Northern, Southern, Rivertowns, Sound Shore or Central Westchester resident & why?

We are a Northern Westchester family.  Our first home was in Mount Kisco and now we reside in Chappaqua NY.

What do you like most about your home’s community?

It really is a tight-knit, supportive community but doesn’t feel like a small town.  It takes a village to raise kids and we are so happy to have found it here.  I love that there are so many community involved events throughout the year.  The Saturday Farmer’s Markets, trick or treating in town, the Chappaqua Book Festival – these are just some examples of what this town has to offer.  On any given weekend day, we can go into town for an errand and end up bumping into friends and spending the day there.

What do you appreciate most about your suburban home?

I love that my kids have a separate playroom for all of their toys.  I also appreciate the openness.  Everyone can be in their own space but still be together.

Fill in the Blanks.  My Favorite….

Restaurant = Quaker Hill Tavern, Chappaqua NY, is a family favorite.  Rocky’s Deli in Millwood NY.  Locali in Mount Kisco.   We’re also very partial to Francesca’s in White Plains NY.

Park / Outdoor Activity = We love Gedney Park in Millwood NY.  There is a great playground, a pond that my kids love, space to run around and lots of great hiking trails.

Children’s Store = Scattered Books in Chappaqua NY.  It’s a wonderful mix of an adult book store and a kids’ space.  My boys love to play with the bunny’s, train set and to browse the children’s books.  I love that I can have quiet time in a comfy chair to read while they explore.

Children’s Activity = Muscoot Farm is always so much fun.  My kids love seeing the animals, going on hayrides and playing on the tractor.

Any advice for people considering a move from NYC or anywhere in the world to Westchester Living?

My advice is to really pay attention to the town.  Make sure you go and spend time there on different days and at different times to get a feel for the “vibe” of the town.  Browse the local stores and eat in town.  It’s important to get a feel for the community.
