The town of Pound Ridge is a charming, rural and secluded place to reside. The town is located in northern Westchester County, about 19 miles northeast of White Plains and 43 miles north of midtown Manhattan.


Pound Ridge is a quaint and welcoming place to live. This upscale town is known to be somewhat remote and isolated compared to other neighboring communities; there is no direct access to the train station and major regional highways, but in exchange for their commute, residents enjoy more than 23 square miles of forest and greenery. For residents that want to stay connected to New York City, it’s just a short car ride to the train stations in New Canaan, Katonah, Bedford Hills, and Mount Kisco.

Pound Ridge offers activities for children of all ages. Their town park has three swimming pools, two playgrounds, and tennis courts. Kids love ice skating at the town pond in the winter. Take private swim lessons or fishing lessons at summer camp. Or learn adventure sports like Ultimate Frisbee. During the school year, kids cam compete in baseball, soccer, and other programs.


Pound Ridge is home to the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation; this 4,315-acre park makes it the largest park in the county. The land has varied terrain, wooded trails and the park offers a variety of activities in all seasons. There are areas for picnicking, camping, fishing and cross-country skiing. The residents of Pound Ridge also have the option to join the The Pound Ridge Golf Club and The Pound Ridge Tennis Club, two private clubs that offer recreation, dining, and socializing.

Locals enjoy a visit to Scotts Corners, a hamlet and the main shopping district in town. Visit the cheese store (Plum Plums Cheese), the flower shop (Topiary Flowers), the bookstore (Booksy Galore), the toy store (Lil Beans Toys & Sport), hardware store, and deli, to name a few. For Pound Ridge residents who enjoy live music, the town’s restaurant North Star has weekly live music in a great environment. Locals also enjoy the annual Antiques and Crafts Holiday Outdoor Market and Pound Ridge Pride Day where the community enjoys great food prepared by local restaurants, a BBQ sponsored by Scotts Corners Market, bounce house and games for the kids and a watermelon-eating contest. Europeans settled the area in the early 1700s, and Pound Ridge was incorporated as a town in 1788. A few years earlier in 1779 during the Revolutionary War, Pound Ridge was the site of an attack of 300 American rebels by 200 British Troops. The British retreated to Bedford. In the early days, the Town’s economy was based on agriculturesmall trades such as basket and shoe making.


The Pound Ridge Harvest Festival takes place annually in October and is a celebration of local food and culture. Admission is free to sample offerings from local merchants. Craft breweries, wine tastings, and a kids’ pavilion with a root beer garden, face painting, games, contests and much more. Adults can enjoy live music. The 2018 headliner is Cracker. Past artists have included Rusted Root and Soul Asylum.
