Haworth is a borough in Bergen County that occupies 2.2 square miles and is home to approximately 3,390 residents. NJ Transit offers bus services to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan and also to the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal in Upper Manhattan.

Kids in Haworth love the many town parks and playgrounds, and a hands-down favorite is the Haworth Memorial Park “Castle Park” Playground. This magical park features a wooden castle climbing structure and a few sports fields. Haworth is also home to the Jefferson Valley Music Together center. This center offers mommy and me groups, and gives toddlers a chance to dance, move and have fun. The Swim Club is where kids can take swimming lessons and enjoy the summer sun and town camp.


Haworth has recreational activities for all ages. The Haworth Senior Club is for all residents 62 years of age and over, and there is also the Haworth Senior Van that is available five days a week to take seniors to doctors appointments, hospital visits, grocery shopping and the shopping mall. The Haworth Swim Club is for all ages, and features many exciting swimming pools as well as swim clubs and lessons for all ages. The Haworth Public Library has story time, arts and crafts and many other activities for the children, as well as programs for adults. There are also two Golf Clubs for the golf lovers and many beautiful parks in town that offer paths, playgrounds and fields.

Haworth has a small business district on Terrace Street with a hardware store, post office, mini mart, a few restaurants and coffee shops, florist, liquor store, and a couple quaint boutiques. For larger shopping needs, residents travel to nearby towns such as Paramus.


Haworth has two country clubs, making it the perfect spot for residents to relax in the sun, swim, or play a round of golf. Haworth’s recreation department runs a summer concert series in the park during the warmer months. First Write, a book publisher for indie authors, helps new writers get their ideas out there. Andiamo is a local Italian restaurant located in downtown Haworth whose pizza is a favorite with locals.

Haworth was incorporated in 1904, with roots dating back to the Revolutionary War. Haworth started out as a farming community but developed over time into a residential suburb. The borough was named for the historic village of Haworth, England.


The Haworth Swim Club, is a 52-year-old institution that offers residents a place to swim in the 6-acre setting. The pools are filled with fresh water with heated and non-heated options. The Front Pool is heated with a diving board and slide. The Back Pool is unheated and is a junior Olympic size, 24-meter pool with diving board and lap lanes. The Kiddie Pool is newly renovated and perfect for little ones to splash around. The Snack Stand offers a nice selection to be enjoyed in the picnic area that offers tables, charcoal bbq grills and more. Take a swim break with a double hoop basketball court, volleyball court, 4 ping-pong tables and a variety of board games. A home away from ome, many residents hold birthday parties, special events and family gatherings at the Swim Club.
