The Village of Briarcliff Manor is an affluent village in Westchester County, nestled along the historic and scenic Hudson River. With almost six square miles of land that includes the communities of Scarborough and Chilmark, the village offers a rustic residential environment within easy commuting distance to Manhattan via the Scarborough station. Briarcliff Manor is easily accessible by car via Route 9, Route 9A, Route 100, the Saw Mill River Parkway, and the Taconic State Parkway.

Children have so much to choose from for extra curricular activities in the Village of Briarcliff Manor. There are numerous local parks that offer hiking, playgrounds, swimming, and fishing, etc. The Briarcliff Manor Town Library runs children programs year round that features activities like story times, book clubs, arts and crafts, and computer time. There is a town camp, youth baseball, softball, soccer and lacrosse teams, as well as arts offerings. Random Farms kids theatre lets the little ones practice together in group workshops, or cultivate their talent with private lessons. A Maze In Pottery is a studio where kids (and adults!) can choose from more than 300 custom pieces and let out their inner Picasso. After some time in the kiln, take home your newly-painted prize.


The village of Briarcliff Manor itself owns and maintains over 172 acres of active and passive parkland. The village provides a year-round recreation program for residents. Residents enjoy playing youth baseball, softball, soccer and lacrosse teams, art programs and much more. Hikers enjoy the scenery on Old Croton Aquaduct Trail and Pocantico Park; locals also enjoy fishing at Scarborough Park. Briarcliff is also the home to one of the best family gyms in Westchester, Club Fit. The gym offers exceptional daycare and youth programs as well as classes and all the fixings of a luxury gym.

Head to the Chilmark Shopping Center on Pleasantville Road. The center has restaurants, convenience stores, a supermarket, and a dry cleaner, among other establishents. If you like your errands with a side of charm, near by the village hall you will find a cute strip of mom-and-pop stores straight out of the 1950s.


Delicious restaurants dot the town. Chatterbox 54 has a fun atmosphere and karaoke every Thursday night. Donato’s Trattoria for Italian food, Jiki-Japanese Sweets and Cuisine has sushi and Japanese pastries. In the summer, the Briarcliff Chamber of Commerce has Summer Concert Series at Law Park Field, which features popular local bands that perform under the stars.




Two brothers, John and Reuben Whitson, owned 400 acres called Whitson’s Corners on the land that would eventually become Briarcliff Manor. The original location of Whitman’s Corners was Pleasantville and South State Road. Briarcliff got its name in the late 1800s, when Walter Law bought a farm on the land called Briarcliff and kept the name on everything he developed. His good friend Andrew Carnegie referred to him as The Laird of Briarcliff Manor, and the name stuck. It 1902 the town was officially named Briarcliff Manor.


Channel your inner Scarlett at The Briarcliff Manor, a historic home and venue located near the Hudson. This Historic home is a whimsical venue with picturesque views, seven fireplaces, grand staircases, and a charming appearance that has old world charm and contemporary elegance. Renamed The Briarcliff Manor in the 1990s, this home was built in 1902 and originally called the Haymount Estate. It was designed to resemble a southern plantation, and was used as a speakeasy in the Prohibition Era, it’s location on the river allowed easy access to shipments of alcohol. It’s most exciting role was that of the Tara Estate in the movie Gone With The Wind. A few years after filming, the Haymount became the home of the Holland Classical Circus, which ran there from around 1940-1945.
